What the free reference material on this site is for, what it is not, and the plain-words limits of our responsibility.
The calculators, consumption norms, index explanations, articles and proformas on this site are an educational aid for quick checks at the desk or on site. They are the sort of figures an experienced estimator keeps in a pocketbook: good for smelling out an error, teaching a junior, or sanity-testing a quantity before it goes further. They are not a sanctioned document, a rate authority, or a substitute for professional judgement.

Indian Standards are referred to on this site by number and title only, as a finding aid. We do not reproduce their text, tables or figures. The official texts are published by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and should be obtained from BIS; only the current official text, with its amendments, is authoritative. Standards are also revised and withdrawn from time to time — a number listed here may have been superseded since this page was written.
Where a page shows a worked example — a rate build-up, an escalation computation, a material consumption, a sample premium — the figures are chosen to make the method clear, not to tell you what anything costs. Market rates, wage rates, lead and lift, royalty and taxes vary by place and month. No figure on this site is a quotation, a recommended rate, or financial advice of any kind. Do not carry an illustrative number into an estimate, tender or bill.
The calculators apply stated formulas to your inputs. They cannot know your site conditions, your specification, your wastage experience or your SoR's measurement rules. Their output is a first check, to be confirmed by proper analysis before it appears in any document that someone will sign.
